The perfect pen to match an already great notebook.
Minimal
It’s literally seamless.
Mark One has a completely seamless design, which was quite an engineering feat. The pen has no excess ornamentation or logo, and comes in two colors: black or white. The metal plated nocks provide a nice little accent to each, and give Mark One a sophisticated look without looking overly tactical.

Durable
Made to last a lifetime.
Mark One is incredibly durable. It is made entirely out of metal, including the custom click mechanism. The pen is coated with Cerakote, which is an extremely durable ceramic-polymer coating (technical specifications for Cerakote). It gives the pen a really nice, matte feel. This pen should last a lifetime.
A cut-away of the all metal construction of the Mark One body and mechanism.
Retractable
A completely custom click mechanism.
There are many off-the-shelf click mechanisms we could have used, but none of them were quite right for what we wanted, so naturally, we made our own. It is made entirely out of metal and, as far as we know, it is the only all-metal mechanism on the market that has an actual “click” action. It is satisfying as heck to click.

Refill
Built for an amazing rollerball refill.
Mark One ships with our favorite refill, the Schmidt P8126 rollerball. This is a fantastic cartridge; the ink flows smoothly and dries quickly. However, Mark One will accept any Parker-style refill, which means there are many options for pen cartridges that our pen will accept. This list from Well-Appointed Desk is quite comprehensive. My New Go-To...Maybe

I have used a pen by another company at my desk since I started my own business, and it was the first pen I used that utilized the Schmidt P8126 refill. I loved it and when I was in the market for a new pen, that was my starting point. I did a lot of searching and social media sent a ton of suggestions my way before I landed on and decided to try the Mark One. As others have mentioned, the packaging it was shipped in was minimal but it got the job done. It was shipped and arrived quickly and I immediately started writing with it. It writes very smoothly, it feels great in hand and it does indeed have a hella satisfying click. I have it in my notebook I carry around with me every day into and out of my office, and use it on a daily basis now.

My one not quite complaint, but maybe regret is that I wish I had held out on a restock of the steel (specifically the black on black one) because the aluminum is shockingly light in hand, and I do enjoy a bit more heft in a pen. However, my lack of patience and my hesitance to roll the dice (financially speaking) on the more expensive (and backordered at the time of ordering and writing) version is the only reason I am unsure if this will be my go-to. I love it, but if I got my hands on the steel version, that might be the one pen to rule them all, so to speak,

A tank pen

I bought black steel version. It is solid and has a quite good heft. Feels solid whenever I pick the pen for writing. Actually, i wanted to pick this pen to just hold than writing. The cerakate coat finish ads a good grip. The click mechanism is awesome. Once clicked the clicker stays in its place, so less rattling. I find the grip width is comfortable, not too thin / thick. The refill it came with is close to fountain pen writing. Ink flows, flawlessly. The only gripe I have is, the pen doesn't have integrated clip. But this can be forgiven for all the goodies the pen has. I have plenty of parker style refills. Now I found a perfect match for those.

If apple could design a pen, this is it. Hands down.

Hands down the best pen I have ever used.
